Revision in Tariff of Tea and Coffee by Railway
Indian Railway announced through a press release on 18.09.2018 that Indian Railway decided to revise the Tariff of Tea and Coffee. Relevant points from the press release of revision in Tariff of Tea and Coffee.
The Menu and Tariff of standard items have been examined in Board’s office and accordingly following changes is advised.
No more Pot Tea and Pot Coffee in Trains :-
Tea and Coffee in Pots shall be excluded or discontinued from the standard menu. Earlier Tea in Pots (285 ml) + 2 tea bags + 2 Sugar pouches were available at Rs.10/- in Static and Mobile. Coffee in Pots (285 ml) + 2 instant Coffee caches + 2 sugar pouches were available at Rs.15/-.
Rate increased of Tea and Coffee :-
Tariff of Tea and Coffee is revised and fixed at Rs. 10/- each. However, standard tea at Rs.5/- as prescribed vide shall continue to provided i.e Standard tea (150 ml) in disposable cups of 170 ml capacity is available at Rs.5/-. No changes in that. Earlier Tea ( with tea bag) (150 ml) in disposable cups of 170 ml capacity and Coffee using instant coffee powder (150 ml) in disposable cups of 170 ml capacity were available at Rs.7/- each. But now it is revised to Rs.10/- each.
Tax Rate :-
Since the tariff of standard food items fixed are inclusive of applicable taxes as per prevailing Central/State Government instructions from time to time, i.e Service Tax on outdoor catering/GST since introduction, the revised tariff of Tea/Coffee mentioned above is also inclusive of GST. Therefore, the Licensee/Service Providers will not collect any amount other than the fixed tariff.
In the press release, it also said that Railways/IRCTC should ensure implementation of revised tariff within the framework of existing terms and condition of contract in vogue. Revised rates shall be applicable with immediate effect.
