POD Hotels are providing world class facilities at a cheaper rate and gave passengers a soothing comfort.POD Hotel is a hotel that provides accommodation in form of a small clear capsule rooms, which are as large as a single bed. Central Railway : Sleeping Pods facility opened at  CSMT

The Pod hotel at Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus Railway station is being developed under the (NINFRIS) New Innovative Non Fare Revenue Income Scheme. It  is opened to give more comfort, affordable and cheaper stay options to the Passengers at CSMT, Mumbai, located near the waiting room o­n the Main line of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus Railway station.

There are a total of 40 pods including 30 single pods, 6 double pods and 4 family pods. This classy air-conditioned accommodation Pod Hotel will provide full privacy, Mobile charging facility, Locker room facility, Fire alarm, Intercom, Deluxe toilet & bathroom etc. Booking of these Pods can be done through physical mode (at reception) and o­nline mode via Mobile app.

Central Railway had  given the contract for development and operation of the sleeping pods to Namah Enterprises for a license fees of Rs. 10, 07,786/- per annum for a period of five years and Railways will earn a revenue of Rs.55.68 lakh. Railway has just provided 131.61 sq mtrs of space to have all the modern facilities for a comfortable stay for the passengers who want to stay near the Terminus itself.

Unique Facility

The pod hotel at Mumbai Central is spread over an area of approximately 3000 square feet with a mezzanine floor, is located on the first floor of the station building,

The unique facility at Mumbai Central station consists of a total Pod inventory of 48, comprising of 3 categories, namely 30 Classic Pods, 7 Ladies o­nly, 10 Private Pods and o­ne for Differently Abled as well. While the Classic Pods and Ladies o­nly Pods will comfortably fit o­ne guest, the Private Pod will also have a private space within the room, whereas the Room for Differently abled will comfortably fit 2 guests with space for free movement of Wheelchair. The passenger can avail all modern facilities at comparatively cheaper rates.

Here the classic and ladies pods are for a single guest while the private pod has extra space within. The differently-abled pod can fit two guests easily.

Pod Room Fare at Mumbai Central

• For a pod hotel for 12 hrs, the price is set to Rs 999.
• For a pod hotel for 24hrs, the price is set to Rs1999.

Private Pod Room Fare

• For a private pod for 12 people for 12 hrs, the price is Rs 1,249.
• For a private pod for 12 people for 24 hrs, the price is Rs 2499.

As per famous Online Newspaper, the pod rooms will also offer free Wi-Fi and use washrooms, luggage, and shower rooms in the common area in the hotel premises. Guest staying at the hotel will have access to televisions, mobile charging points, and reading lights inside the air-conditioned pod capsules in the hotel.
