Coronavirus Special Trains For Passengers Railway start 'Shramik Special' Trains to move migrant workers , Pilgrims, tourists, students and other persons stranded at different places due to Covid-19 Lock down. Trains will be run from point to point on the request of both the concerned State Governments. Indian Railway announced via Press release on 01.05.2020 that as per the guideline issued by Ministry of Home Affairs, it has been decide to run ✅"Shramik Special" trains from "Labour Day" i.e 01.05.2020, to move migrant workers, workers , Pilgrims, tourists, students and other persons stranded at different places due to Covid 19 Lock down. Special Rules for Shramik Special Passengers The passengers have to be ✅screened by the sending states and only those found asymptomatic would be allowed to travel.Sending State Government will have to bring these person in batches that can be accommodated in the train to the designated Railway Station in ✅sanitised buses following social distancing norms and other precautions.It will be mandatory for every passengers to ✅ wear face cover.✅Meals and drinking water would be provided to the passengers by the sending states at the originating stations. Arrangements by State Government Around ✅ 55 people are travelling in each coach, which normally ✅ seats 72, to ensure social distancing. All of the migrant workers had registered with the administration for the ✅ Journey back home (Journey Extension Tickets). While the passengers were required to pay the specified fare, the administration provided free drinking water, biscuits, fruit and bread for the non-stop journey.The Railways will endeavour to ensure social distancing norms and hygiene with the cooperation of passengers. On ✅ longer routes, the Railways will provide a meal enroute during the journey.On ✅arrival at the destination, passengers will be received by the State Government, who would make all arrangements for their screening, quarantine if necessary and further travel from the Railway Stations. Train Ticket Fare These are special trains planned for people identified and registered by the State Governments, and that the Railways would ✅ not issue any tickets to any individual or group.The ✅ fare for these special trains would be based on the fare for Sleeper Mail Express trains, ✅ Plus Rs.30/- Super fast charge and an additional charge of ✅ Rs.20/-. Five trains operated on Friday, the day railways launched the point-to-point train service for passengers who are identified by the state government concerned. " We will increase the numbers of such trains in the next few days and these will be run daily till there is demand. On Saturday, we had planned to run nearly 40 trains. But the state needs to identity passengers and deploy transport facilities to the exact location. They also need to ready the facilities for health check - up and quarantine," said a railway official. Some of the routes on which trains operated on Saturday included Kota-Dhanbad, Nasik-Lucknow, Vasai Road-Gorakhpur, Bhiwandi-Gorakhpur, Sabarmati-Kanpur, Ahmedabad-Agra, Surat-Behrampur, Ernakulam-Danapur, Tirur-Danapur, Kozhikode-Dhanbad, Thiruvananthapuram Central-Hatia and Calicut-Dhanbad. Railway officials said almost all the trains originated from Southern, Central, Western and South Western zones. “Zonal railways have been empowered to run these trains as per the demand of state administrations. Local district magistrates and divisional railway managers are coordinating for running such trains, " the railway officer said. The sending state - from where the train originates - will pay to railways on behalf of the passengers and bulk tickets are issued. "The states will decide whether they pay or recover from passengers. We are not dealing with the issue since the trains are being run only after getting request from originating and destination states," he added. The officials also said once a train reaches the destination, it's sanitised and locked. The train returns to the originating station where it is sanitised again. As per the scheduled list, more trains to Bihar will be operated on May 3, 2020.
