Indian Railway implemented Monsoon Train Time Table for the trains running via the Konkan Railway network for the concern of the safety of the passengers. Every year the Monsoon Train Time Table will be with effect from 10th June to 31st October. This year also Monsoon Train Time Table is effective from 10th June, 2020 to 31st October, 2020. Following are the details of Monsoon Train Time Table 2019.

It is notified for the information of all concerned that Monsoon Time Table implement on Konkan Railway w.e.f. ✅ 10/06/2020 to 31/10/2020. Detailed timings of trains are as under.

South Western Railway Monsoon Arrangements

Hubballi Division Ready for Monsoon

South Western Railway announced that to ensure proper working of Signal & Telecommunication gears for uninterrupted and safe movement of trains, Hubballi Division has carried out intensive maintenance and inspections of S & T installations. Both Loco pilots and Guards have been provided with Walkie-Talkie sets along with spare battery and all stations of Hubballi Division are equipped with 25 Watt VHF base station. This enables wireless communication between the train crew and station master especially during monsoon season.

Emergency Communication Sockets have been provided at every 1 KM along the track which enables the patrolmen, watchmen, loco pilots, guards and other field maintenance staff to contact station master and control office during breaches, track washouts and any other emergencies. Accident Relief Trains (ART) are available at five locations over Hubballi Division i.e., at Hubballi, Castle Rock, Hosapete, Vijayapura and Vasco Da Gama and vital communication equipment including satellite phones are available in all ARTs for emergency communication like during rain and floods.

All signal aspects have been provided with integrated type LED aspect for better visibility of signals during rain. Proper earthing & lightning protections are provided to ensure round the clock working of S & T gears and reduce impact of lightning. During monsoon, power supply failure is more in rural areas. Therefore Integrated Power Supply system has been installed and its proper working is ensured for uninterrupted/reliable working of signaling installations. All Signal & Telecommunication cables have been tested thoroughly at stations/block sections.

Changes in Train Services during Monsoon Timetable – 2020

Konkan Railway announced that the changes in Train no. 22119 / 22120 Mumbai CSMT – Karmali – Mumbai CSMT Tejas Express and Vistadome Coach in Train no. 12051 / 12052 Dadar – Madgaon Jn.– Dadar Janshatabdi Express due to implementation of Monsoon Timetable over Konkan Railway with effect from 10/06/2020 to 31/10/2020 are as under:

  • There will be no service of Train no. 22119 / 22120 Mumbai CSMT – Karmali – Mumbai CSMT Tejas Express on 10/06/2020 (Wednesday) due to implementation of monsoon timetable for rake balancing.
  • There will be no service of Train no. 22119 Mumbai CSMT – Karmali Tejas Express on 01/11/2020 (Sunday) due to want of rake.
  • Vistadome Coach by Train no. 12051 Dadar – Madgaon Jn. Janshatabdi Express will run on Monday, Thursday and Saturday ex. Dadar.
  • Vistadome Coach by Train no. 12052 Madgaon Jn. – Dadar Janshatabdi Express will run on Tuesday, Friday and Sunday ex. Madgaon Jn.
  • Vistadome coach will not be attached to Train no. 12051 / 12052 Dadar – Madgaon Jn. – Dadar Janshatabdi Express dated 10/06/2020.
  • Train no. 12051 Dadar – Madgaon Jn. Janshatabdi Express dated 31/10/2020 (Saturday) and Train no. 12052 Madgaon Jn. – Dadar Janshatabdi Express dated 01/11/2020 (Sunday) will run with Vistadome coach.
  • Vistadome coach will not be attached to Train no. 12051 Dadar – Madgaon Jn. Janshatabdi Express dated 01/11/2020 (Sunday).

Konkan Railway Monsoon 2020 Arrangements

This year our Nation is fighting the global Covid-19 pandemic. During the situation of this pandemic COVID-19, Konkan Railway is fully committed to the welfare of the countrymen and is making all efforts to ensure availability of essential commodities through its uninterrupted freight services. Konkan Railway staff is also making all efforts to maintain the track, ensuring all safety related guidelines and maintaining hygiene & social distancing norms.

The Konkan region is known to receive heavy rainfall during the monsoon seasons. Konkan Railway runs through this region and comprises of a 740Km long route. Konkan Railway gears up on the onset of Monsoons season in Konkan region. All planned safety works on this route from KOLAD (after Roha station of Central Railway) to THOKUR (before Mangaluru station) have been completed. Special attention has been given to catch water drain cleaning and inspection of cuttings. The large scale geo-safety works executed along the railway line in last few years have significantly reduced the incidences of boulder fall and soil slip, thus ensuring safe running of trains. No major disruption to train services have occured on account of boulder fall during monsoons in last 7 years.

Konkan Railway will conduct Monsoon Patrolling as per the provisions of Indian Railway Permanent Way Manual to ensure safe running of trains. About 974 personnel will patrol the Konkan Railway route during the monsoon. Vulnerable locations will be patrolled round the clock and Stationary Watchmen will be deployed for 24 hours at critical locations. Speed restrictions will be imposed at vulnerable locations. BRN mounted excavators have been kept ready at all nominated points for quick movement in case of any emergency.

Instructions have also been issued to the loco pilots to run the trains at a reduced speed of 40 kmph in case of heavy rainfall when visibility is limited. Self-propelled ARMVs (Accident Relief Medical Van), with provision of Operation Theatre and providing emergency medical aid are kept ready at Ratnagiri and Verna (Goa) along with ART (Accident Relief Train).

Mobile phones have been provided to all safety category staff to contact control office / station in emergency. Both Loco Pilots and Guards of trains have been provided with Walkie-talkie sets as well as every station on Konkan Railway is equipped with 25 Watt VHF base station. This enables wireless communication between the train crew as well as train crew and Station Master. Emergency Communication (EMC) sockets have been provided at a distance of average 1 Km along the Konkan Railway route that enables the Patrolmen, Watchmen, Loco Pilots, Guard and other field maintenance staff to contact Station Master and control office during any emergency situations. Satellite phone communication has been provided in ARMV (Accident Relief Medical Van) for emergency contact, when ARMV is ordered in service. All main signal aspects on Konkan Railway are now replaced with LED for improving signal visibility.

Self-recording rain gauges have been installed at 9 stations viz. Mangaon, Chiplun, Ratnagiri, Vilwade, Kanakavali, Madgaon, Karwar, Bhatkal & Udupi which will record the rainfall in the region and alert Officials in case of increased rainfall. Flood warning systems for bridges have been provided at 3 locations will alert Officials in case of flash flood in the river when water flow reaches above danger Level.

Control rooms at Belapur, Ratnagiri and Madgaon, will work 24 x 7 during monsoon period for ensuring safe running of trains. Monsoon Time Table will come into effect from 10th June, 2020 upto 31st Oct, 2020.
