Details of Gurgaon Metro are following. The trial run for its Qutub Minar-Gurgaon line will be held on Friday.

In a first for Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC), Haryana Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda and Union Minister for Urban Development S. Jaipal Reddy would travel in the Metro coach during its trial service on Friday.

The travel would be at “their own risk” as the DMRC is yet to acquire safety clearance from the commissioner, railways (safety).

The DMRC has never allowed human travel in any of its trial runs before.

Also since 2002, no trial run of the Metro has been flagged off by VVIPs.

The then Deputy Prime Minister, L.K. Advani, had flagged off Delhi Metro’s trial service for a 8.3-km route between eastern Shahdara and north-central Tis Hazari.

DMRC chief public relations officer Anuj Dayal said since this was Haryana’s first trial run, it was being flagged off by VVIPs. “After 2002, we have been through 10 trial runs, but these were non-VVIP events,” he said.

“After flagging off the service at HUDA City Centre, few dignitaries, including the Haryana chief minister and Union urban development minister, would travel a distance of about 7 kms on the Metro,” said Rajender Kataria, Gurgaon Deputy Commissioner.

Dayal said he was not aware that the Haryana chief minister and the Union minister for urban development planned to travel in the Metro for the trial run. Dayal said no one has traveled in the Metro coaches yet during trial runs before this.

Dayal said the commissioner, railways (safety), would visit the line two or three months after the trial run. The safety clearance would be issued then.
