2 Days Bharat Bandh : Train Status Today
Central Trade Unions or CTUs have launched a two-day (08.01.2019 and 09.01.2019) nationwide bandh in protest against the government’s alleged anti-worker policies and unilateral labour reforms. As many as 10 CTUs with at least 20 crore workers affiliated to them have joined the strike. The 10 CTUs going on strike include INTUC, AITUC, HMS, CITU and AIUTUC, among others. In many states protesters blocked trains. Following are the status including cancelled/partially cancelled/rescheduled and diverted trains due to Bharat Bandh.
Rail-blockades in many railway stations and sporadic incidents across West Bengal districts partially hit normal life amid the Bharat Bandh. Train services were disrupted both in Howrah and Sealdah division of the Eastern Railway and also South Eastern Railway. The strike supporters put up rail blockades and clashed with the police in many stations in the suburbs in South 24 Parganas district’s Lakhikantapur, Canning; North 24 Pargans’ Madhaygram, Hasnabad and Barasat. Additional police personnel have been deployed throughout the state to prevent any disruption or violence in connection with the strike.
Strikers in Thiruvananthapuram block railway lines as part of the 48-hour Bharat Bandh called by various Central Trade Unions. The trains were hit following the picketing by the supporters of the general strike at Thiruvananthapuram Central, Ernakulam and Kozhikode railway stations. In the central stations, protesters squatted on the track at 5 am blocking the service of Venad Express.

Western Railway announced that due to BEST Strike For convenience of passengers following additional services of locals are run. Additional services on 9/1/19 in view of BEST strike to provide relief to commuters.

SER TRAIN SERVICES PARTIALLY AFFECTED DUE TO BANDH
South Eastern Railway announced that Train services of South Eastern Railway have been partially affected ranging from 30 minutes to 2 hrs this morning (08.01.19) due to Bandh called by a section of Trade Unions. Agitations were staged at Belda, Dantan, Jaleswar, Rupsa, Balasore, Uluberia, Midnapore, Chengail etc. by few section of people. However, agitations were withdrawn from all places. As a result, 4 mail/express trains, 2 passengers trains and 4 EMU locals in Up direction were detained and controlled at various stations enroute. Similarly,4 mail/express trains, 2 passenger trains and 3 EMU locals in the Dn direction were detained and controlled enroute.
This apart, 6 Up and 6 Dn EMU locals and 1 passenger train were cancelled.
