Cash on Delivery or Pay on Delivery : IRCTC Ticket Booking

IRCTC (Indian Railways Catering and Tourism Cooperation)  has offered delivery of rail tickets allowing passengers to make payment through any payment mode, including cash. Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation has now introduced Pay-on-Delivery oCash on Delivery ( CoD ) service allowing passengers to book train tickets online and pay at the time of delivery of the ticket. IRCTC through its website and mobile app has now introduced pay-on-delivery as one of the payment options for its customers, said a senior IRCTC official.

Indian Railway targeting CoD option for the customers who wish to pay using Cash payment only. This facility will work like book rail ticket online and payment done at the time of Ticket received on the registered address.
Delivering tickets at the consumer's doorstep by offering the pay-on-delivery (PoD)or Cash on Delivery (CoD) option will facilitate those consumers who book tickets through travel agents to move to online medium.

It will also encourage people to move to online booking instead of Counter booking of tickets.

Cash on Delivery Charges

PoD charges shall be Rs. 90 plus sales tax for transactions up to Rs. 5,000 and Rs. 120 plus tax for transactions over Rs. 5,000.

Procedure

The customer will have to do a one-time registration for availing PoD as a payment option. He or she will have to tender either Aadhar or Pan card to avail this payment option. Another term is that have to book the train ticket at least 5 days in advance.
This website can login with existing IRCTC Login ID after verification or register as new user.
Cancellation
In case of refusal or cancellation before delivery, the customer will be liable to pay the cancellation and delivery charges.

Hope this move will reduce number of customers using Railway Booking Counters to book the long trip train tickets.
