Escalators On Indian Railways

Do you know Indian Railways now moving to Lift / Escalators generation.Indian Railways already installed 3 escalators(Lift) on the CST(Chatrapati Shivaji terminus) - Mumbai on Platform number 16, 17 and 18. According to one of the famour news paper, railways going to start the same of the other peak Railway stations like Dadar, Thane and Kalyan stations too. The same project is expected to be completed on mid of 2012 itself. These movement is expecting to become a big changes on the Indian Railways customer service, especially the Senior Citizens. The CST lift is target to the Physically Challenged passengers, women and senior citizens. The escalators also will help for the peoples having big lag-ages. 

The escalators  will avoid the stress-passing problem to an extent as a number of commutators avoiding the foot over bridges due to high bridges and too many steps on them. This will also expect to avoiding the extra rush of passengers during the over bridges.Indian Railways also started building the A/C waiting corridors for the long distance travelers on the Thane station.
