TERROR WARNING TO LUXURY TRAINS
The Ministry of Home Affairs has issued an alert to the Anti-Terror Squads of Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan and Delhi regarding a suspected Indian Mujahideen plot to blow up the Palace on Wheels, popular among foreign tourists.
According to the MHA alert, the IM wanted to target the luxury train at a bridge somewhere between Agra and Jaipur to create worldwide publicity. The recce for the plot has been done and IM operatives assigned to execute the plan, the sources said.
It is learnt that alleged IM operative Salman, who was arrested near the Nepal border in Siddhartha Nagar district of UP on March 6, had named the luxury train as a possible terror target during his interrogation by the UP ATS and the Delhi special cell officials. Sources said Salman revealed that IM founder Amir Raza Khan had discussed the plot with him and some other operatives when they met in Pakistan. Amir told the IM men that after the operation, they would be taken safely to Agra and then to Nepal.
Salman told the interrogators that besides him, Shahnawaz, Sajid and Shadab Beig, each of whom carries a reward of Rs 1 lakh from the Delhi Police, were present at the meeting in Lahore where they underwent arms training. Salman had gone to Pakistan last December, while the other three were already present there.
